WAITING ON WEDNESDAY #07

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

BREAKING BEAUTIFUL
by Jennifer Shaw Wolf
Expected Release Date: April 24, 2012

Allie lost everything the night her boyfriend, Trip, died in a horrible car accident—including her memory of the event. As their small town mourns his death, Allie is afraid to remember because doing so means delving into what she’s kept hidden for so long: the horrible reality of their abusive relationship.

When the police reopen the investigation, it casts suspicion on Allie and her best friend, Blake, especially as their budding romance raises eyebrows around town. Allie knows she must tell the truth. Can she reach deep enough to remember that night so she can finally break free? Debut writer Jennifer Shaw Wolf takes readers on an emotional ride through the murky waters of love, shame, and, ultimately, forgiveness.

I'm curious about this one... The way that people are practically turned into saints after their death is interesting to me. (Why? It's not like they're around to know what you're thinking about them anyway? And is their family so delusional they think they were PERFECT? Anyway... ) Sounds like it has the potential to be pretty heartbreaking & stressful, but with the right amount of sweetness & relief in the form of the BFF-turned-boyfriend. Plus, I like the cover.

  2. This does sound good. The fact that people get turned into saints after death has been confusing to me for years. Why? I don't get it. Good choice :)

  3. I completely agree with your comments regarding this book. I think the premise sounds very dark and sad, but that the right about of light has been added to the book. It's interesting to see another book come out about an abusive teen relationship... The cover is truly interesting.

  6. I completely agree with you. I HATE when people glorify someone's character just b/c they're dead. I added this book to my TBR list recently. It definitely intrigued me too!
