Halloween Reads

If you're looking for something spooky or bloody or creepy to set the mood for Halloween, I've got a few recommendations! (Click the book titles to see my full reviews & links to buy.)

The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson -- This is a modern day Jack the Ripper tale featuring an American teen at a boarding school in London. It's got all the fun of a girl living away from home, with some super creepy, murderous moments to keep you on your toes.

Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick -- Something happens to knock out the electricity and The Changed are everywhere. Follow Alex on a trek through the woods, and out, while she fights to survive and figure out what's going on. (Some of the descriptions involving The Changed were so vivid, I gagged! Perfect for Halloween grossness!)

The Way We Fall by Megan Crewe -- What happens when the island where you live suffers an outbreak? Quarantine! This is the quieter, less gory option of the bunch, but it's haunting in its own way.

What will I be reading for Halloween?

This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers. I don't know why I've put off reading this one (other than the fact that I moved & my books were trapped in boxes for a few months while I didn't have bookcases), but... bring on the zombies!

What's your Halloween book rec?

  1. One of these Halloweens I'm going to sit down and read Anna Dressed in Blood. I think I bought it last year and never made around to it.
